Any other game recommendation?

Post by D20Headshot »

I have many games of Ark Nova under my belt, both solo and 2-player, and god I love that game.
Each game is unique, you have to constantly adapt, a lot of tactics with a bit of strategy, the right balance between control and interactions between players, not so many unbalanced cards and a little luck but not excessively, not abstract but with an immersive theme, almost perfect.

Do you have any other game recommendations with the same vibe? Apart from Terraforming Mars that I (personnaly) find less interesting regarding criteria listed above.

Thx!

I would suggest Lewis and Clark

It's the game i know that is the closest to ark nova, in m'y opinion.

Skill intensive, carefull planning required and the little bit of luck

Lewis and Clark is a great reccomendation!

From other titles on BGA you can try Through the Ages or Maracaibo, both heavy euros with cards having an important role.

If you want something shorter but still challenging and fun, try Race for the Galaxy, maybe Petersburg (but haven't played this one in a long time).

For something even shorter, but still a great card game with a good theme - forest shuffle.

Its not on bga sadly, but for me the game giving me the same vibe as ark nova is Scythe.

Lewis and clark didn't cut it for me, found it really boring and borderline annoying.

It's hard for any other game to reach the qualities of Ark Nova!

But according to your criteria:

I think The Vale of Eternity https://boardgamearena.com/gamepanel?ga ... ofeternity fits best, although it's a bit lighter.

Maybe Tapestry, or Terra Mystica?

Thank you so much, just finished my first solo Lewis & Clark game. First impression is meh but I think it will require many more to really feel it (a bit afraid that last turns are just running your engine in repetitive moves, but again, requires more games)
Going for Terra Mystica afterwards !
