It's based (probably) on the number of players/games in the current Arena season. If you do it early in the season, there will be very few and the "reward" will be smaller. But XP are useless anyway.

Yes. Between Seasons the XP values will drop as the player count drops. I play Go Goa a lot and Elite was worth 400 XP in its first season. It is now worth 240 as less people play it.

And this season it has dropped to 120 XP :(

Does XP have any tangible purpose?

No.

ELO did have before these changes though - it was a value you could use to rank yourself in the game compared to others. It's "not so useful" now-days though :(

The disappointment does not fade, you know. It's not just about the actual ELO nonsense, but about the general approach - doing the exact opposite of what you promise. I understand you don't respect the players enough to actually respond to them (even though I already find that problematic). But even if you never intended to respond - you didn't have to make the above promise, you could have just said that the ELO system will be however you decide and that's it. But you didn't, you made a promise, and then never delivered. Why? Is dishonesty really the norm around here?

It would appear that everyone has moved to the acceptance/resignation phase if the lack of activity in this thread now is anything to go by.

Nope, at least not for me. Still coming across people that didn't know about these changes and it's still disliked by anyone I tell about it.

Definitely not, but posting here on a daily or weekly basis obviously doesn’t change anything (cf. h_illes’ posts …), so why should we? Admins know they messed up royally, they either don’t care or don’t have the guts to admit it. So be it …
