Developers consider players with vision impairments

Post by Cobaltinus »

Hello,
I would like to ask developers to please consider players with vision impairments when you design BGA games. Due to my vision impairment, I must have my screen in dark mode. Splendor was one of my favourite games until the new graphics appeared. With the new graphics, I can no longer see the Splendor cards and coins properly. As a result, I will no longer be able to play Splendor (unless BGA reverts to the old style Splendor graphics), and likely will not be renewing my Premium membership. Please developers do better to make BGA a more accessible site for players with vision impairments.

I try, and I assume some other developers do as well.

I do not know why Splendor doesn't have at least an option for the other interface. *edit* The graphics unfortunately seem to be the new physical edition, and I'm not sure they even have the rights to use the old card design anymore.

As one WITHOUT any vision impairment, I find the Splendor re-design appalling and useless. Colors and a variety of necessary information to play the game properly are now harder to distinguish. If I find it difficult, I can only imagine what other players with impairments are experiencing.

Also, moving the location of crucial game information (E.g. Noble Cards values) changes the whole thing.
Gemstone colors on the cards are over-complicated designs and tough to figure out. I'm sure someone thinks it looks 'so pretty' but GBA is ruining it for players. And the likes of me, who PAY for the pleasure, are now considering ending their years long subscriptions.

Stop screwing up and change it back, or at least improve this horrid lay-out!
Or better yet: give us an option to choose between lay-outs: 'GOOD' and "DON'T BOTHER'.
Thanks!
