Azul Etiquette?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but I was basically wondering—how mean should I be in 1v1 games? I have been playing a lot recently and making a number of really cutthroat moves (i.e. sabotaging opponent by leaving them with several unfinished rows or forcing them to take big penalties). Now, some of these moves are, admittedly, a bit petty (a means of getting back at my opponent more than anything else), but I think the vast majority of moves I make are strategically valid.

Overall, I've found my playstyle to be pretty successful in that I'm winning most of the games I play. However, I'm wondering if this is because I'm playing well or if players are simply aren't expecting me to be so aggressive. I'd rather not play this way if it makes the game less fun for others or is out of line with general expectations of etiquette.

Thoughts?

(To be clear, I really have not played that many games—so I'm fully aware that maybe my current win rate is just luck.)

In my opinion one plays to win. But one needs to be aware and accept that the other one wants to win too. If one doesnt accept to lose, them better not play.
So, if I were you, I would continue with my game making the others break lots of tiles and without letting them complete their rows. Thats the game.

Play to win, simple as that. Every now and then an opponent will complain about it but you can’t worry about that.

Blocking the opponent is a big part of the strategy, at least in 2-players games. All good players use it

I just came here (having posted about similar experiences as you in the past) to ask if it is possible to have some sort of notice in a 2p game, advising that it is a much more aggressive variant, or something.

The constant complaints or mild abuse is the unbelievable. sone I report, some I let go.

Complaints range from play better, your disgusting, you’re dirty player, you should try playing fair all the way to you vile p.o.s.

In a 2-player game there should be no issue.

In a game with more than 2 players there could be concerns about someone being "spiteful", trying to keep one person from winning while not advancing your own chances of winning.

Agree, you can't be too nice in a 2 player game. And if you don't take tiles to complete your row and instead focus on something else for a second you can't expect me to always leave the tiles for you if it can benefit me. I can be nice if the other player is nice, but in the last round that goes out of the window. I'm here to win, not to be too nice
