Italy joining the Allies

1939 - 1940 scenario (Solo)
As Poland falls Mussolini throws in with the Allies and we have a second (Alpine) front with the BEF, the French Armee Des Alpes and the Italians threatening Munich.

Probably over-reacted as the 'evil empire' and threw too much at that front abandoning the invasions of Denmark, Norway, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Mussolini and Hitler were at the brink of war in 1938 over the Ausschluss. Italy considered Austria part of their sphere of influence. And there were people in Italy that would have been happier siding with France. Italy joined the war only after it was sure that France would fall. If France held, who knows? It could have been the same as WWI.
