Concède victory, a new trend?

Hi players!

I observe a new very very sad trend on BGA, in particular on Ark Nova which is becoming unbearable.
I pay the subscription, I'm nice, cordial, I play fast. The opposing players wait for the last turn, the very last move, 1 min before ending , after 1 hour of play to concede victory. It's like a couple, if one stops in the middle and leaves the other like that.

Apart from the red thumb, no sanction. I think this should be heavily sanctioned or just impossible in the last laps.

What frustration!!! The points from the last round aren't even counted, it really *. It seems like the person is waiting until the very last moment to concede.

I play every evening or almost, for at least 2 hours and this now happens to me almost once a evening.

I'm starting to be afraid to play.

What can we do to limit this new fashion???? Perhaps this can be done with an agreement from both parties? Like giving up? Or not in the last laps? Or a sanction when it is not justified? (A guy just conceded 96 to 98..)

Conceding grants you the victory, and your rating goes up. Nothing was cancelled.

For example, I notice on your most recent game, you commented "Quitte volontairement." -- and yet you won, 106-100, and the game ended normally. You earned 6 points.

Your opponent was the lowest possible normal rank (100 elo). They may not have wanted to sit through a victory lap on the final turn -- they already knew you won and have a much higher rank, so they saved both of you some time.

No, not all the points are there. I couldn't finish my last lap which gave me points.

I'm a gamer, and when I build a game for 55 minutes I like to see the end, to see what it looks like at the end. Save time? 5 seconds from the end??? After almost an hour??

And what about people who concede as soon as you draw an elephant or an eagle?

Frankly, I thought the gaming world was healthier.
You have to know how to lose, believe in victory and surpass yourself to recover the score.... So sad to see and read that.

I'm sorry you feel this way, but the stark reality is you're playing with strangers who don't need to look you in the eye over a board and not all of them are going to behave the way you'd like and some of them couldn't care less about your need to see a final score. Probably they would not do this over a real board, but on here they are emboldened and they are violating no rule, so there is nothing to be done other than red thumb them.

I've read enough horror stories on here that I basically rarely invest time in a game I expect to take over 45 minutes unless I know the other players in real life or it's turn-based.

I'm sorry you feel this way, but the stark reality is you're playing with strangers who don't need to look you in the eye over a board and not all of them are going to behave the way you'd like and some of them couldn't care less about your need to see a final score. Probably they would not do this over a real board, but on here they are emboldened and they are violating no rule, so there is nothing to be done other than red thumb them.
