Option to give up

Why is there no option in this site to gracefully give up on a game that's a lost cause?

If I'm behind in cribbage by 30-40 pegs and my opponent is close to the end, why don't they give us an option to surrender and give our opponent the win and save tons of time?

All other game sites I've played have this function.

There is the option to concede in 2 player games over a certain completion percentage. You can choose this option from the top right menu.

Many players seem to complain when opponents concede, unfortunately.

BGA has an abusive percentage system that prevents players from conceding before an arbitrary point in the game labelled as 50%. This feature also gives players the ability to penalize their opponent's winnings using the quit feature by exchanging some of their rating and reputation to reduce their opponent's gains. The sooner you utilize the quit button on this percentage meter, the more you can reduce your opponent's gains, the amount of points you give in exchange is the same regardless of when you use this option.

While the winning player does receive less elo gain, the quitter will lose the amount of elo lost if they lost the game plus 10, not to mention the reduction in karma. It is never a good idea to quit ranked games, you will only be punished for doing so.

While I personally like to keep my record clean, and for the time being at least don't even have a timeout recent enough to show up on my profile, not everyone is the same. Some players want to penalize their opponent and are happy to exchange karma and elo for that purpose. The percentage system is designed to let them do exactly that. While I'd prefer that system be removed, BGA seems to disagree.
