Herd animal

Hello, I have a question about herd animals: My plan was as follows. I built a 4-enclosure on water and wanted to play the Pygmy hippopotamus first and then the Red giant kangaroo as a herd animal in the same enclosure. Why doesn't that work? The criteria for the herd animal are met, the other animal is also a herd animal and the enclosure is 4+ and i have enough money. Thanks for the help.

Ark Nova does not have a memory of which animal is put into which enclosure. At the time you wish to flock, you need to find an appropriate sized herbivore (not enclosure) in your zoo which you can point to and claim you are flocking with that animal. Since you need a size 4+ herbivore to flock the kangaroo with, the hippo is not sufficient for this. It doesn't matter that you put it into a size 4 enclosure, the game has no memory of that.

If the game has no memory of which animal was played before, the size of the enclosure is even more important. It's a bug, because the only thing that matters for the rules is the size of the enclosure and that there is a herbivore in it.

It's not a bug, it's a misunderstanding of the rules. The rules just don't care which animal goes with which enclosure, they only care about the conditions at the time of playing/releasing an animal. There is NO correspondence of animal-enclosure.

"You can play a flock animal without flipping an enclosure to the occupied side if you already have 1 other herbivore in your zoo that requires at least the same size enclosure or larger."

So you need an herbivore that requires an enclosure of at least size 4 (or a free enclosure of size 4).
