Explanation of New Deck structure?

Post by erx2 »

Hi all,

Thank you to the developers for adding cards and continuing to work on the game!

I'm confused about which cards belong to which decks and hoping someone could clarify. My questions:
- Is there a definitive list of cards for each deck?
- Is there a list of cards for each deck *that are implemented on BGA*?
- Is there a way to play with the original BGA card groupings?

I have mostly played this game on BGA so don't really know the names of the decks. I'm guessing Artifex = A deck, Bubulcus = B deck, etc. However, I believe BGA has released three different groupings of cards, but those groupings cut across decks. For example, the following are all (i think) A-deck cards but I think in different BGA packs: "Task Artisan" was in BGA's original cards, "Hod" was in the "more cards" pack, and "Loppers" was in the "even more cards" pack. So the BGA groupings of cards don't align with the new decks.

Thank you!

I've never played the physical game either, but the current set of options was deemed sensible by people who have. This is my understanding:
- The base set are the cards that ship with the revised edition. These are numbered with A and B
- The first expansion that was added to BGA are the "Wizkid" cards, which is all of Consul Dirigens and 24 additional cards that were part of the regular C and D deck cards. In the options, these are simply referred to as "Consul Dirigens", although that is not entirely accurate. These cards are numbered with C and D
- The rest of the cards are the individually available decks, Artifex, Bubulcus, Corbarius, Dulcinaria and Ephipparius. These are (also) numbered with A, B, C, D and E.

I don't know why there isn't a clearer separation between these decks and why they chose to reuse the same letters several times.

What used to be called "New Cards" was a subset of Artifex, Bubulcus, Corbarius, and Dulcinaria cards. Instead of implementing the first decks, I simply programmed those that I deemed worth my time (based on difficulty and likelihood of getting banned) and stopped when I was satisfied with the amount of new cards.

What used to be called "Even More Cards" was a continuation of that effort, implementing even more cards from that deck (although we are still shy some that are either too difficult to program or simply a rules nightmare). In addition, we added most of Ephipparius.

Since this was an entirely arbitrary distinction that was based on the order in which they were programmed, rather than their relation to the physical decks, these categories have been removed and will not return.

Here's a spreadsheet with all the BGA cards, although I can't guarantee it's entirely accurate: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... 85/pubhtml

Hope that helps.

Do you know which number (ranges) those are in A,B,C, and D?
