Conceding near the end of the game

I've had someone, who was clearly not winning for several turns and could have conceded anytime, wait until I started to play my last turn (a big card), to then concede. I usually thumbs down someone who does that try to, hopefully, limit that happening to me in the future.

What's the point of building an engine if you don't really get to use it because someone concedes on you?

The point of the engine is to win the game, you can win the game via victory points or consession, either is valid. It's proof that you built the better engine and there's no point in playing it out!

I don't think you can force someone to play a game they are not enjoying, especially when it's via an app and not f2f.

We all know that you have a sweet engine going and you want to crank out a few more points but for the other player it's more rational to concede and start a new game.

If you want to avoid players conceding, play with 3 or more players

I opened a few days ago a suggestion for mutual agreement to concede (see https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=85504). For me, conceding should happen only if both players at the table agree (similar to current implementation of how abandon works, but different outcome).

Why not, but in this case, it should cancel the " wait at least 50% of the gamefor concede" condition. I played Memoir 44 games ( a casual wargame), i made missclicks and rule mistakes that spoiled the game

I said to my opponent that I will concede asap, in 50% . He totally agreed. But in Memoir 44, even if you pass your turns an do nothing, the % dosen"t move. You lose an incredibly amount of time on a ruined game... just because the concede button is blocked.

To save my evening and play other games, I quitted (I warned my opponent and he said he understood), and I took huge penalities for nothing...

Not everyone plays for the same reason. Obviously getting to see the engine they built is important to coffeelion. We should all realize that people get pleasure from games for different reasons.

Seems like you should play turn based games instead then. BGA implements game queuing in a way where if you are in a realtime game you are locked into your current one and are not allowed to play other games. There is nothing for a losing player to gain from playing out a losing game and it's pretty disrespectful to force them to continue and lose the 10 minutes they could get by quitting the game and starting a new one. Very rarely do my opponents in turn based games concede and they will usually not throw either, chasing for the miniscule chance that they could win since they are only taking 30 seconds out of their day every day and our game extending does not affect their ability to make new tables.

And if you only want to play real-time games: Play with friends. Don't force randoms to sit through your combos because combos are only fun for the player achieving it, not for the audience watching it who gets upset the longer they realize they can't participate in the combo as they are rammed over. They aren't going to cheer for you since they are there to play to win.

Its plain rude, disrespectful and smacks of being a sore loser, especially if playing in real time. Like others have said previously, building an engine is about seeing your engine work through to the end. I will never concede because I've been in a losing game and that very last card saved me from being last to coming second.
