Conservation Numbers and Scoring story.

Post by JAM081899 »

So, I bought the game. Printed the rulebook off line to conserve the original rule book. Set up the game, read the online rulebook, glanced over the end scoring. Played many games on boardgame arena and understood it fully now. Set up the board game again and started to wonder where my little white numbers were on the conservation track. They were shown in the online rulebook. Checked the rulebook that came with the game and it showed a different way to score. Realized then that the online rulebook was an update to the rules. Had the game for over a week and had multiple plays on boardgame arena before I realized this difference. Long boring story. Only the truly insane will find it interesting. 😁

The first scoring was a bit complex.

The New one is way simpler to understand. 2 pts for each of the first 10 conservation points then 3. And 1 point per appeal.

I believe it was changed because people felt bad scoring negative points if they didn't cross.

Old way was just counting the steps between the two scoring pieces.
New way is pretty much the same but adds 100.

New scoring also adds white number, making it useless to count the distance between the two. Instead you do a simple sum and compute how far you are from 100.
