what's your strategy?

Post by headkace »

Does anyone think they've yet found any reliable strategic guidelines for Dodo ? Even just an opening strategy? :geek:

New to the game.

My impression is that players get to a point in late game where they start predicting the outcome of the game based on the last moves... but prior to that it's (kind of) random build-up.

Hello guys,
Based on my expirience I think the most common strategy for Red is to move the center piece forward to gain space early. While this leaves the opponent more restricted, you gain more options to control whether you want to reach a point where you can no longer move quickly or slowly.
I believe that if Blue tries to gain space on the outside, it usually results in Red having a little advantage because they are always one move faster. That’s why with Blue I now mostly try to pull my own center piece to the side; this way, if the opponent moves his d4 piece forward, I can take the d4 square myself to gain an advantage. If they don’t do that, I leave the e3 square free for as long as possible to eventually force them to leave d4.
In the past, my strategy was also to simply make slow moves—like e6, then d6, then d7, and so on—so that my opponents who played fast forward would end up trapping me. This worked in the beginning, but it didn't hold up against experienced players, because they had the advantage of controlling d4. I would Like to hear What you think about this.

Edit: There are also a lot of interesting Ideas in the strategy tips. You can See them on the bottom when you Play Dodo. I think There Are mostly from the Inventor of this Game Mark Steere and Headkace who starts this Konversation
