How do I block Cities and Knights Expansion on Catan

I don't know how to play it, i keep getting connected to these expansion games . How do I block it so I don't kill my karma by disconnecting?

I will explain it via the "Play Now" (=old lobby) approach because i still not understand the New lobby:

Go to Play now. You should have "Simple game" chosen because in "Arena game" you would never play C&K anyways.

If you are on "manual mode" you see all game options of the available games. Just do not choose a game that has C&K game option.

If you are on "automatic mode" you have a cog symbol for each game. Click on it and you can choose all your preferences (time, game options, ...) that you are willing to play. Deactivate C&K there.

Apparently a lot of people are having this problem so I’m guessing the option doesn’t show on the title in the old lobby. There are several games I play that have this problem. With some it is just settings. Ex. Pockets doesn’t show the option for clan selection or living forest doesn’t show if its competitor or casual. With Catan c&k is almost an entirely different game that most base players aren’t familiar with.

The issue with that is that if there is one more seat left or it is a popular game people may join just to make sure they don’t miss out on the table. I’ve done this and then had to decline after seeing there was a setting added somewhere that isn’t listed in the title.
But I just checked. Catan has all the settings listed in the title even the newly added friendly robber. So over time the community should become more aware of tables with these added settings.

Still I get tables for C&K, than I explain and mostly the other players agree to stop the game. But sometimes someone doesnt agree, then I wait till my time is up, which costs time for all and also I get punished.
How can I stop getting randomly at tables for C&Ks?

That sounds like a bug. In this situation you can only file a bug report and maybe switch to manual in the meantime. Then you can make sure you are only joining tables without the expansion.

Are you joining tables from the old lobby or the new (game page)? If you've set the setting not to join it via the old lobby, I don't believe those settings carry across to the new lobby. Otherwise, yes, it may be a bug.

I have had this problem and it got me so frustrated because I couldn't play the game (didn't know how) and then I would lose tons of elo points and karma for quitting!

I emailed BGA Support for help and they responded with some instructions on Game Settings.

Basically, you have to select Expansion: Base Game and DO NOT MOVE the slider to green - green means you are Flexible on that setting. Mine was on green forever. It's a bit counter-intuitive, but put the slider back to grey - this means you won't be matched to any Expansion games during the matchmaking process. This means you will play ONLY base games.

I am still paranoid even though I have mistakenly accepted only 3 games out of hundreds, so I still make sure before clicking Accept. I think checking your Game Settings will help greatly. I haven't had a mismatch since I moved that slider from green to grey.
