Why no pip dice?

My family found it really confusing that the dice are number dice and not pip dice. There are already numbers all over the board because every mountain card is numbered. Made it hard for my (non-gamer) family to recognise the dice as separate for the first few minutes and realise what they had to click on. Also a lack of dice rolling animation meant they tended to not realise it was their turn. Strange design choice given that the original game has normal pip dice?
Otherwise a very cute, fun game that will definitely be added to our "quick game" rotation.

I think that's up to personal preference. For me personally, it is easier to calculate the sum of dice when they are numeric numbers instead of pips.
