Why the conversation is sometimes short

Finished a game,and I said Gg,and one of my opponents replied 'Good game'.So I started to chat about the game,but my opponent left the conversation. Then I realized that they were from Japan,that I was lucky enough to be born an English speaker,but that they might not speak much English.
