Re: Cities and Knights timer too short
I kinda agree. Like just an extra 30 seconds in the late game would help. I do believe it's possible to just play fast. I don't want the time added to the early game as that slows things down. I have only been playing for 2 weeks so I can see getting faster with practice. But I do feel like there were moments I'd have to sit to look at lines towards winning in the late game even if I did have more experience.
Also there's that knight vs barbarian count bug. Sometimes I have to refresh to get the count again. I know that's a short time or I could just count but it's still some increment of time.

Yeah, I just kicked from a game when I had 12 points and was 27 seconds over time. I always give people the courtesy of at least checking if they're still playing in chat. Even then, I only prompt when they're obviously inactive. It's just poor sportsmanship.

Re: Cities and Knights timer too short
I was expelled while trying to play Merchant, trading with it and stealing a metropolis. Other players had previously made trade offers that I had to reject, costing 1-2 seconds each time. Then when it was my turn, I lost a few seconds every action because I had to confirm every action with a special button (as always). This is incredibly silly. When the time was negative, a big red banner appeared (telling me that the time was running out) over the confirm button, so I could not confirm until I figured out how to close the banner (which also takes valuable seconds). But the banner kept reappearing over the confirm button multiple times. While I was trying to make my actions, chasing the confirm buttons and fighting the banners covering them, someone (probably the player whose metropolis I was going to steal) took the opportunity to expel me.
Maybe it is possible to turn off the confirm buttons, but I have not found out how. Requiring the user to confirm absolutely every action is completely dysfunctional UI when combined with time limits. I just wanted to play the game, not some button chasing clicking contest.

I'm glad this has already been brought up. The timer is way too short. There's so much to keep up with in this game that with the time running out so fast it's hard to still find it fun. I'm trying to learn the game, barely a handful of games now though I'm well familiar with the original, but these extra steps take time. Please actually allow the needed time.

another game where I am expelled because I did not have time to manage the cards. and once again I had the possibility of winning the game.
is it possible to put a penalty like -5 to the karma for the one who expels another player?
I already have 2 games in 4 hours that do not bring ELO, I even lost some, because a player expels another seeing that the latter will win the game.

The last two games that you did not finish and were kicked out were on the fast time setting. Perhaps you do not know how to avoid that (it is possible!) otherwise I cannot understand you. Play at the slow time setting (or normal time setting if sufficient) and you should have no problems at all.owly S wrote: ↑15 September 2024, 15:23 another game where I am expelled because I did not have time to manage the cards. and once again I had the possibility of winning the game.

Re: Cities and Knights timer too short
I've played C&K a handful of times now. For the first time, I was assessed a time penalty when I never was especially slow, I just had a couple of turns with a LOT OF THINGS TO DO!! The average time per move needs to allow for the added complexity of C&K. I'm not sure what the timer was set to, but it doesn't matter, even if it was "fast" this was simply too fast. I'm an experienced C&K player IRL --- I'm sure I've played 50 or 100 games. I wasn't pondering at any point.
If this is the way it'll be, I guess have to go back to only IRL games for this one!

I totally agree with this. The game needs a variable timer that is a function of how far into the game you get. By the time you are collecting many special cards, and feeding and upgrading knights a lot, you are taking many more actions per turn than at the start.Shinobu R wrote: ↑08 September 2024, 12:35 I kinda agree.
