@Tof: of course I didn't mean you were deliberately misleading anyone, just that the wording was unclear!

Hello.GeraldineMerida wrote: ↑26 July 2024, 01:57On the left where the New Games currently are would be perfect, but I wouldn't mind any other arrangement.
A new version of the extension is available, with more options to customize the homepage.

Great, thanks!
Re: 💫 Welcome to the new BGA Homepage!
Thank you so much. I've been using your extension for years and have appreciated all your updates, but this is the best one yet.
Re: 💫 Welcome to the new BGA Homepage!
Adding my voice that this is yet another page that is way too cluttered and disorganized, and loses a lot of the actual things that people used it for. The admins seem set on never listening to the users and I can only assume they have never used the site. If they did with any regularity they would see why so many of their changes are poorly thought out. Please use better judgement on user experience and design, instead of just changing something because you can. Usability should be top priority. Also I can't imaging this is helping the server issues loading so much more that no one actually needs to see, and forcing more clicks (and so more page loads) for the things that people actually want.
It's never too late to admit a mistake. We won't think less of you. But ignoring everyone on every issue is not the right move. Please take a look at your poorly received ELO changes.

This is the perfect example of the Seymore Skinner meme "Am I out of touch? No, it's the users that are wrong."
After the horrible elo changes and the continued https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enshittification of the website pages, I have cancelled my subscription as well.
I used to suggest people to play on BGA both in real life and on other online platforms. I will now actively start telling people not to do it.
Create better functionality that helps playing the games, not convoluted messes of pages that contains 80% of useless data for normal users.

Nailed it tbh. Well said. That link explains a lot.Stroom wrote: ↑25 August 2024, 05:49This is the perfect example of the Seymore Skinner meme "Am I out of touch? No, it's the users that are wrong."

Re: 💫 Welcome to the new BGA Homepage!
All the pages they are creating are pushing game ads and banner splashes. It's hard not to think their priority is now selling game advertising space for game publishers. Where this priority is being driven from is hard to say, but in most things in life the owner calls the shots. Who owns the site now? Well Asmodee bought BGA and they have gone through various venture capital equity firm owners until their latest sale to Embracer Group, who following too much expansion too quickly are $2bn in debt according to wikipedia, and are now looking to float their company as three listings on Nasdaq. So they presumably don't care about BGA users as anything much of a priority. They care about revenue certainty to aid their listing. And ad revenue from publishers will be more stable and predictable, and accountable, than user subscriptions. They certainly won't want to pay now, nor forecast for, server upgrades etc. So loss of users to stabilise the service could be seen as an accounting win. And once the floatation goes through it's the shareholders who will be the priority and they will want annual profits, and increasing ones at that. So brace yourselves for hiked subscriptions, even less care about UX and the needs of the end user. Pessimistic or just realistic? You decide.miklomike wrote: ↑31 July 2024, 12:46 Adding my voice that this is yet another page that is way too cluttered and disorganized, and loses a lot of the actual things that people used it for. Until 2023, Embracer Group rapidly grew through major acquisitions and investments. After a US$2 billion investment unexpectedly fell through, the company was more than $2 billion in debt and began closing and selling multiple studios and while laying off people at others.
On 22 April 2024, Embracer Group announced its intention to transform into three standalone publicly listed entities on Nasdaq Stockholm within the next two years: a board game segment under the Asmodee group, an indie games segment under Coffee Stain Publishing, and a segment to manage its library of licensed intellectual properties include that of Tolkien's Middle Earth.[4]

Re: 💫 Welcome to the new BGA Homepage!
I cannot believe no one has seen all the complaints about the new Homepage. It is absolutely horrible and unusable. The game logos are generally graphics-heavy and putting them altogether, all over one page, is an assault on the senses.
I check the homepage occasionally to see if BGA has listened to us, but to no avail. I have to get my information another way. Bummer.
EDITED TO SAY: I just found the Chrome Extension that someone posted here and it has changed my (BGA) life!!! Thank you!!
