2024 DC Victory Open - Nov 2 and 3

Post by Nittany Devil »

Hi everyone,

A group of dedicated is players is starting a new tournament in the Eastern US. We will be collaborating with the Georgetown University Wargaming Society to have a 2-day tournament on their campus in Washington, DC. There will be three rounds played from approximately 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully, we will also have overlord games and other casual gaming on Saturday evening.

Please mark your calendars. Let me know if you have any questions. More information will be forthcoming as we get closer.

We cannot reserve the venue until August, so more information to come over the next few weeks.

Planning for this event is moving forward. The scenarios books and maps are almost complete and ready for printing. I've been in communication with the sponsor, Georgetown University Wargaming Society, and we should have the venue confirmed by the end of August.

I'm working on figuring out the pricing and hope to be able to open registration in early September.

Thanks for your patience as we work through the organization of this tournament the first year.

I'm pleased to announce that registration for the 2024 DC Victory Open has started.

The tournament is being sponsored by the Georgetown University Wargaming Society and will take play at Georgetown University on Nov 2 and 3. We will be playing from approximately 9AM to 5:30PM on both days, with the potential for Overlord games on Saturday evening.

Registration is $40 an includes a set of the maps and the tournament booklet with the scenarios. We will be playing modified D-Day scenarios that incorporate some of the rules introduced with D-Day Landings (including supported infantry, supported armor, terrain control, landing craft, and special weapons assets).

Here is the link to the registration form: https://forms.gle/Xkhpn9cVacqWACqz5

Please contact me at grheintzelman@gmail.com if you have any questions about the tournament.

How is signup going folks? I'm considering coming (from Ontario Canada). Any affordable hotel recommendations within walking distance of the venue?

I'd come up Friday evening, fly back later Sunday evening.

I believe we have 11 registrants so far. There are hotels in the area... A little expensive if you stay within walking distance of the venue, but a bit more reasonable if you're willing to stay about a 15-20 minute drive away. Also, several less expensive Airbnb's close by (that's what I'm doing).
