Extra time tolerance for learners

feel frustrated being kicked out of a game due to additional reflexion time without a message from the other player.

For some games, the reflexion time allowed is short compared to the rules, cards or board complexity. For beginners, the reflexion delay can't be as fast as a an expert and not just for the first game.
I agree being "punished" with loss of karma if I am intentionally slowing a game or doing something else. But It is unfair when much better players are expelling learners after a little time delay without any further notice but 20 sec to play.

I think it is a pretty cruel way to interact with a clearly underrated opponent.

Would it be possible to create a response button when receiving this 20 sec notice, just to say "don't worry I am here, I just need extra time please"? Everyone start with learning, and since it is not in competition mode, a little understanding would be nice.

I feel like kicking a learner out of a game deserve more karma loss than trying to learn new complex game.

Looking through your history most of the games you play is either normalor fast pace. I would suggest for games that you are trying to learns to set the game up at a slower pace to allow you to have more time. Or even better friendly mode which has no time restrictions.

You have been kicked out in only 3 of the 49 recent games you timed out in. I'd say players are already being fairly tolerant. Also 17 games of res arcana should be enough to be able to take turns quickly, the 'I am learning' argument really doesn't hold up at this point.

Might as well just increase the time per turn then. People would always click this button.
I don't think anyone is kicking you out because they don't know you are there. They know exactly what you're doing. They feel like, you agreed to these time controls, abide them.

There is already a button for "I need more time to think" or something like that. Use it before you run out of time, and people might wait a little longer before expelling. But if they don't, well, life's tough.

There's a chat feature and nothing is stopping you from using it. Considering you're the one holding things up to the point BGA is offering an expel feature I'd say it's your obligation to be the one communicating here. You accepted the time control you were in. If it was too fast, then you should be choosing a slower time control.

When creating a table, consider limiting the game opponents to people of a similar level to you who may also be learning.

Something that was much easier to do in the old "play now" lobby vs the new game page lobbies that make it more difficult to click through to the table and see player's ELO and make it less obvious (to me) how to set table restrictions that I fear new players miss the option altogether.
