New Speed Record

Post by BundyBoy »

Hello!

On the event card for the 1961 championship, race2 USA, it states, “New Speed Record! Each time you reach a speed of 15 or more, immediately gain a sponsorship card.” Obviously, this is a game mechanic, and can be achieved by playing 3444 in 4th gear. What is the current speed record now? With the basic upgrades you could play 4445 than boost for 3 giving you a total of 20 speed, not including adrenaline. The top speed with the basic upgrades is 20 or 21 if you want to factor in adrenaline.

Things really start to heat up when you start using the garage module! This is when you can start adding in turbochargers, gas pedals, acceleration, and, of course, the king of speed… 4WD+++!

Now looking at the best speed cards in the game, turbo8 and 4WD+++, as stand alone cards they look pretty even. In 4th gear and boosting max speed with turbo8 is 23 (turbo8 444 and 3 off boost), while max speed for 4WD+++ is also 23 (flip 444 with 333 and 2 off boost). But 4WD+++ can synergize with Acceleration which gives it a much higher ceil when paired with other cards.

What do you get when you marry all of that together? A baby named 33. Yes, the highest speed I’ve been able to get out of a car is 33. I had two previous races that I was able to get 29 out of the car, but wasn’t able to cross over into the 30s.

Those two races on GB and France, most people aren’t trying to draft for pure speed. The 33 was on USA, which is more of a high-speed track, but I was still able to draft high-speed cards. I have not achieved anything as fast as these speeds on Italy, where most people are trying to draft fast cards.

Are there any stories of people tackling that monster 37 space straightaway in a single turn?! Anyone else pushing their car’s speedometer into the 30s?! I would love to hear about them!

The highest possible speed is 48 in championship (with four upgrades). +++,+++, GP1, GP1

So you could play, +++,+++,+,+, boost, adrenaline

That gives you (4+4+4+3+3+3+2+2+2+1)= 28

Then, Gas Pedal 1 accelerate (+10), Gas Pedal 1 acclerate (+10) = 48.

In a standard three upgrade game the highest possible is 40 with +++, Gas Pedal 1, Gas Pedal 1

+++,+,+,+, boost, adrenaline = 24

Gas Pedal 1 (+8), Gas Pedal 1 (+8) = 40

My fastest ever is 31 which I've done twice. I've seen Vasetoo go faster though, it was something in 32-34 range. And of course in Championship you can go even faster with 4 upgrades.

I recently heard about liVee doing 30 on Italy with Tires++, Acceleration gas pedal and 4 gas pedal! Besides that and your 31 on USA, there hasn't seemed to be many. I guess it does make sense since you need a good upgrade setup and then to draw the right cards when the time comes. It is more of a rare event then I thought at first, especially since the theoretical max speed is so high, just difficult to pull off.

I wonder if it is on par with jumping 3 corners in a single turn in difficulty level? Can anyone speak to that, comparing the two? I have not actually made a 3 corner jump before so I cannot say. (Although I hope to complete one in future)

Thank you for all the maths, howie varez and Tobsga! I can just imagine a driver in the 4th championship race on Italy coming out of the final corner and then just absalutely blast off for almost a full lap in one single move!

Oz did 30+ against me on Great Britain once. He had +++ and GP1. The corners were weird, but I had come out a turn ahead. I couldn't finish the next turn, but I had a 13-space lead and I had 17 for my next turn. Oz had +++, +, +, +, and boost. He was able to avoid hitting his last low number (I think he had to leave a 2 out), and he won by one space with adrenaline. LOL

edit: Oh, I see he already mentioned it above. :lol:

IiVee has set a new high mark by hitting 37 on the final race of a championship season! It is very impressive even with an additional upgrade!

https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=606889137
It was at move 705.

His upgrades were 4WD+++, 4WD4+, a pair of 4WD+acceleration.
