Karma Points

Post by doughtwist »

I think it is unfair that you only gain one Karma point per game, whereas you lose 10 in first skip of turn and then 20 in all the following skip of turns. I lost 20 straight due to a bug and can't play Arena anymore while the season is closing and only gain ONE Karma after playing a full game of 20-30 minutes.

Why is it unfair? It essentially allows you to quit/timeout 1 in 20 games without persistent ELO loss. Sounds rather lenient to me.
I wouldn't wanna play opponnents who quit more than that ratio. Especially on 20-30min games. Also when table is 3-4 players, the risk of an opponent quitting is substantially higher (almost doubled/tripled).
Check out the Allround-League: https://boardgamearena.com/group?id=7870115 --> a league where you have matches of random games vs. other players in your group. Season 9 registration oct. '25.

You also gain one karma point for playing a full 1-5 minute game. You can choose which games you play.

The karma system is laughably lenient. 100% Karma should be an easy base for players. Timing out isn't something you should be doing frequently, forget about getting into situations where players have to kick you or you quit. You might make the occasional mistake for a temporary drop in karma easily retrieved by regular play, let alone games selected to rack up completion faster.
