Scoring with purses

I lost several games against players who choose cards with purse.
Most of these cards are low cost and on village cards, so the player keeps his golds that are put on the purses at the end.
So Castle Combo becomes a luck game, what a pity.
The fisrt player begins on village. For me, on castle will more balance the game.
I like this quick game with its many possibilities and interactions, but with current rules, luck takes too much place

Purses are particularly efficient when you're less experienced with the game because it's very easy to maximise them - just get money. Other cards are often more positional or require a particular focus, so are more difficult to maximise. But I think if you keep playing you'll find there are other combos that can score just as highly as purses can and it isn't just about who picks up more purses.

Although if your opponent is stocking up on purses, make sure to deny them the banker if at all possible.

True, as someone who just started playing CC, I find purses to be very owerful, especially when you get a Beekeeper followed by a Steward - that's just easy 18 points in a whim.
That said, purse player's game also depends on the keys to keep refreshing for more coin options or more purses, so denying them keys would be a good counter strategy. That said, if I see someone do this, I would renew cards or take the purses myself just to balance the game.

Yet I wish I had a particular 2 more, especially the one that counts one VP per each gold in all the purses (which for me here would have been 31 VP in just one card, could have been more! xP greedy) and the one purse with 7 Gold capacity.

Kudos to the opponent in renewing that king of all purses early on in the game after sensing my strategy.

when my playgroup started out, we thought beekeeper was totally overpowered. As we got better, we realised purses are not nearly as good as they look, as ending up with excess cash is not that easy against experienced opponents.

Purses are ridiculous in 1-on-1, and especially so with some RNG. They are not as powerful in 3+ lobbies because card rotation can screw your combos over.

I actually think they should be reduced to 1 point per Purse in a 1-on-1. When you see someone contesting purses in 1-on-1, you either need a 90-100 pts strategy to beat them, or you need to put resources into messing with order / draw, or you need to contest purses even if it's suboptimal.

In a 2 vs 2 match is most importante, for me, calcolate how many point “give” to you opponent picking a card interesting for you insted of counter pick a sub-optimal card…
Try to think in terms of delta point…
