There is a user-developed plug-in that implements this function.

Given how long people have been asking for this, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to be added to the native BGA framework. The person who originally programmed the chat function doesn't even work for the company anymore.

https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30509 is probably the easiest way, and yes muting an abusive person mid-game is standard videogame functionality that would be great on BGA.

It seems crazy to me that such feature is not implemented yet. Sometimes people are straight up rude and giving them red thumbs will not hide chat for the current game which can last for tens of minutes. Other times I may not even wish to give someone red thumbs but I simply don't want to listen to them blabbering and spamming chat with nonsense. I imagine many people would like such feature and I would like to know if there any plans to implement something like that or I should look for other solutions.
