Wolves are still overpowered. This expansion hasn't seemed to tame them as much as the Alpine expansion. I have tried several strategies with boars/squeakers, bats, and butterflies and I have still lost to anyone going for deer/wolves almost every time. I think both expansions mixed together in full with all discarded cards coming form the base deck would finally get rid of the problem.

My experience is very different. Playing with the new expansion makes Wolves/Deer far less strong, even more than Alpin did. Butterflies got even stronger now and Bats also got a huge boost. So a lot more ways to beat Wolves/Deer.

I do agree the scoring potential of the new cards isn't great, which makes the current format wolf paradise. The bushes are very interesting though, and i can see a lot of fun potential interaction with the alpine expansion.
I would bet the game is going to be at its best with both expansions at the same time

That’s correct, not for the time being. The editorial team tested shuffling both expansions into the base game and yes, it works.

But as you will have to discard a bigger number of cards from the deck during set up, chances are high, players would miss out on certain colours to gain bonuses or bonus actions. So to give you all a chance to explore each deck properly and get familiar with the new species, we keep them separated for now.

Depending on your feedback and requests, we might add a „choose both expansions“ option in a few weeks. Until then, enjoy playing!

Why tell the user which decks to shuffle? The new expansion only makes sense strategically with the Aplin expansion. Those who don't want that are free to choose... The sooner we get the opportunity to combine both expansions, the better.

I agree with tobisagt, I have both expansion at home and it's really better to play with both expansion. There is a lot of combo possible and it make the game greater

I have 134 games IRL and 326 games on BGA. I just received the last expansion IRL. I am a bit disappointed by the new expansion. I find it less powerful and interesting than Alpine. I tried few games IRL with just the base game and Woodland, in order to discover the new cards and unfortunately, I am not impressed. I just tried with base game and both expansions and I find the game much more interesting. A lot a diversity, less wolves, less deers, butterflies and bats are more powerful. I am looking forward to play the game on BGA with both expansions!

At home, the game comes to the table every day, but only with both expansions. In my opinion, it works much better that way. It's about time it was made available here on the platform.
