Its just like people are sure any election where they don't like the outcome was rigged…
Because the alternative is that you are a loser.

These same conversations happen at other places, so doubtful this will happen.Remkar wrote: ↑03 April 2023, 16:59Sorry, but if you're that convinced, maybe just leave?RiggerRabbit wrote: ↑03 April 2023, 14:31 I'm sorry but this site is complete garbage at this point. Of course it's rigged and they want to keep it a secret. Game after game of being given a handicap against me because I'm playing a newer player and it doesn't want to turn them off from playing the game in case they lose. So it just gifts them perfect rolls in order to force them to win. No one should be surprised that this site will cheat for other players. This site lacks skill based matchmaking.
There are plenty of us here that are mathematicians, statisticians, programmers, psychologists, etc., and we've checked things and given plenty of explanations about how these programs work, talked about and analyzed the statistics themselves, and tried to explain how the human mind does not understanding randomness.
Feel free to ignore all of us and take your gaming elsewhere if that suits you best. Either way, I hope you find a place to play and feel less frustrated.
Here is some random bell curves with (I guess 60?) rolls: https://www.zupimages.net/up/22/29/xu8k.jpg . Done with googlesheet random.
I don’t see why a bell curve is expected in Yahtzee where each dice is independent. I would expect it in a two dice game like backgammon or monopoly where the dice are summed.want to be dus wrote: ↑22 October 2024, 00:02 When I follow a game here at BGA - Yahtzee - I can't recognize any normal distribution in the context of a

The luck score, similar to other BGA game's scores, are a bit hit or miss on how accurate they are. Yahtzee isn't the worst offender for high luck, games like the card game 99 are worse, as well as several of the social cooperation games (whatever skill may be involved in the likes of Bang, Werewolves, etc. isn't going to overcome the inherent flaws of the groups you can be paired with, and even without that issue the skill ceiling only went so far.) A better way to tell how luck-based a game is would be to check their highest ratings. A side check for activity is needed (if fewer players are playing there's not enough activity to generate a proper idea of their ratings), but for active games like Yahtzee this isn't an issue. The best ratings peak in the high 400s, sometimes the 500s. (Compare to Werewolves at lower 400s or Bang's 300s). Wingspan is high 600s to 700s. Ticket to Ride can get high 700s to 800s, and Splendor can manage mid 800s. Those aren't even the highest numbers for games out there.GreenP55 wrote: ↑24 November 2024, 02:06 My rank was around 700 for the first half of this season then I changed my strategy and I’ve just climbed and climbed and am about 100 rank. I notice the game is 5/5 for luck in it’s description but that’s just so not true.
My new strategy is to use whatever I get dealt for the first several roles. I’ve thrown away my chance early, accepted a s3 for three of a kind or 4 for my twos - but I protect my 3s - 6s for later.
Point is, once I have 12 or more rolls and I get three of something I go for the maxi bonus and if it works, (mostly seems to) then I focus on ensuring I get my topside bonus. Plenty of opponents appear to be trying to get results with only a few rolls in hand.
The better my strategy the luckier I’ve been.
