VP deducted after raising temperature

Sorry if this has been asked before. Cannot figure out why sometimes my VPs are deducted and opponent’s VPs are raised after I raised temperature using heat. It did not happen every round in the game.

If the Thermalist award has been funded, there’s live updating who would get the points for that, based on the number of heat resources the players have. If you spend some, you may slip from first or second place for the award.

It can be especially confusing when playing with Vitor and funding award is first thing that happens in the game. Then VP swings all the time.
