Bucuresti - Erzurum

Hello fellow players.

I have to admit that I feel a bit stupid writing this post. The 1912 expansion (Pretty cool! Thanks for all the effort!) includes - among others - the ticket Bucuresti-Erzurum. It is marked as 7 points. I know what the points typically mean (the shortest path between the two cities needs that many train carriages). Now, the part that makes me feel stupid: what is the route to do Bucaresti-Erzurum with 7 carriages?

There are actually a lot more examples
- London Athina is not 16 but actually 17, because I'm sure Edinburgh Athina's 21 points are correct, and obviously it passes through London subtracting 4 wagons making London Athina 17
- London Angora is 19, not 20 with the path London-Amsterdam-Frankfurt-München-Wien-Budapest-Bucuresti-Constantinople-Angora
-Paris Roma is 7 not 10, of course with Paris-Zurich-Venezia-Roma, What even is this? Why randomly add 3 full points to this?
-Paris Berlin is 6, not 7 of course with Paris-Frankfurt-Berlin
- The one you mentioned, Bucharest I Erzurum
- Essen Angora is 15, not 16 with Essen-Berlina-Wien-Budapest-Bucuresti-Constantinople-Angora
-Sochi Smyrna is 8, not 9 with Sochi-Sevastopol-Constantinople-Angora
I checked all of them and I'm pretty sure these are all. The question is: why change the numbers like this?

London Athina is already correct. The one that need revision is Edinburgh Athina which should be 20 instead of 21.

This was the initial criterion in base TTR, then they realized some ticket weren't actually well balanced and in some of the following releases, while keeping the criterion valid, they adjusted some of the values to better balance the tickets. Athina-Edinburgh is one of the worst long tix even with 21 points, imagine if it was 20 as the criterion would require. They clearly tried to balance it (with little success) adding one more point.

I guess I can follow only up to some extent. The example I was giving initially (Bucuresti-Erzurum, 7 points) seems to be quite tricky (one can only achieve it in two rounds using 4 whites and 2 locos + 2 any colour). But Brest-Marseille is also 7 points and can be achieved in two rounds in two different ways: 4 and 4 (pink, red) and also 3 and a 4 (black, any colour). To me it looks like Bucuresti-Erzurum should actually get all its 8 points if we compare it with Brest-Marseille.

I get your point and it makes sense if you look at that single comparison, but you are missing the bigger picture, those tickets are both largely on the stronger end of similar tickets.

Most of them are very bad, way worse than Bucuresti-Erzurum 7 points. In the comparison you pointed out it's more like Brest-Marseille being too good rather than Bucuresti-Erzurum too bad. Actually for that regard Bucuresti-Erzurum is very similar to Rostov-Erzurum that is 5 points, this is how good it already is
