"New Sicilian Tarot" - In search of a volunteer developer

Post by Buzzu76 »

Hi to all,
recently, with my non-profit Association that tries to preserve and spread the game, I share to BGA license for new cards and tiles of visive support at game (bid phase, signing of objective/point ecc…).
The Sicilian Tarot is an early, intelligent point-trick game, heir to a tradition invented in 15th-century Italy at the Ferrara and Milan courts. The oldest trick-taking game played in Sicily, today is in the Register of Intangible Heritage - UNESCO of the Sicily Region.

The deck, with Its unique features set it apart from the sophisticated games played elsewhere in Italy and Europe. Starting perhaps as early as the 19th century, the number of its cards was cut down to 63. All suits have 4 court cards: Lady [J], Cavalier [C], Queen [Q] and King [K]. The 21 cards called "Trionfi" or "Tarocchi" have the role of trumps, while "U Fujutu" (i.e. The Runaway), not numbered, represents a jester – or The Fool in the other Tarot decks.
To guide potential developers… I yet developed and published for free online:
https://vassalengine.org/wiki/Module:Sicilian_Tarot
https://virtualtabletop.io/ (write ‘tarot’ in search-bar)
digital version of the game with a new deck, original re-interpretation specially designed for the digital use, starting from the version printed with the new original extraordinaries drawings by the Sicilian artist Lelio Bonaccorso, with, for the first time, Anglo-French symbolic and numerical indexes, great and clear, in the corners of the card.
For a further look at the possible materials to include in the game to enrich the online experience and make it more similar to a board game you can take a look at this test table I created on Tabletopia: https://tabletopia.com/games/sicilian-t ... 9/play-now
On https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/431 ... lian-tarot
you can see the new physical version of the deck.

The structure, materials and mechanics of the game are extremely similar to those of other modules already present on BGA: Troggu, French Tarot, Hungarian Tarokk, Grosstarock, so I hope that one of the developers of these games or others can think of this new version without having to face a task too burdensome.
The goal is to make an easier game mode freely available for local players and to expand the small international community passionate about the game, also allowing the organization of Tournaments / championships also in online mode that other platforms do not manage.
I thank in advance those who want to get involved in the thing.
Being a non-profit project we cannot invest funds in but surely the developer can be rewarded with a nice package with new deck (a 100 copies limited edition), the Modiano Deck and all the informative material and publications created by the Association in Italian: two books, a score and rules book.
I'd be happy to start a chat with anyone who may be interested, or contact me on giocotarocchisicilia@gmail.com
Regards.
