Moderation Needs a Little Work

Please note: This is NOT an argument about a specific moderation. I am NOT arguing or complaining about a moderation.

I am not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but I was trying to appeal a moderation, but could not find the proper URL for the moderation in order to complete the appeal. The only URL I had was a generic URL, which would not work. I couldn't find anything in the letter that showed how to find the correct URL. Since I was in a moderated status, I was locked from contacting support via the BGA website. I tried to email BGA, and was told to use the BGA support. So I was stuck in an impossible loop. I had no choice but to confirm the moderation. I don't mind the 10 points of karma, which can be made up easily. But now, I have a moderation on my record. I am pretty sure it I cannot appeal the moderation after the fact.

Again, I am not complaining about the moderation. I just want to make sure we can fix this programming loop that makes moderation appeal impossible. If I made a mistake, please let me know how I can do it differently. Of course, my hope is that I won't have to appeal a moderation in the future anyway.

I agree entirely. I tried to boot two players from games A MONTH AGO. For some reason that wouldn't work; but turning them into time based did. They then didn't take moves for an ENTIRE MONTH. Coincidentally, I went out of town for a long weekend (anime convention) and they took their turns while I was out of town. I came back home to two karma deductions having been kicked from the games that I couldn't kick them from. Very frustrated right now.

It does seem like the system is specifically designed to make it difficult to make reports / easy for mods to dismiss them.

I tried to report a user who joins over 300 turn based games at a time, including tournaments, then disappears for over a month. They get kicked out of most of their games tanking their karma to 0, but there are enough games that the opponents don't notice /don't kick that when they come back they can complete the games they are still in bringing their karma back up to 100% and do it again. Karma filtering won't avoid users being matched with them because they have high karma again when they join all their games, they just don't maintain it.

This is clearly abuse of the system, and ruining hundreds of games each time the user does this, but there is nowhere to report it. Every potential category I tried basically told me "you can't report a user for this."

Not to mention that you cannot use the verb for what a vacuum does, or the noun for the gaseous form of water, without the post getting moderated. It seems like the attention is in the wrong places.

This specific problem has been going on for years, and I believe with the same user. A thread about this issue pops up regularly, but nothing has been done so far.
