Push notifications - getting this error message

Help, please

When I try to enable push notifications I get this error message:
"We haven't been able to set up notifications! Did you confirm authorization when prompted by the browser?"

I don't get any such prompt. And I have enabled Chrome notifications in my Android settings. I can't enable notifications for the BGA app in my settings because the BGA app doesn't show up on the list even though I have it.

When is this going to be fixed? It is crazy that it has been like this for years! Being able to get notifications when it is your turn is absolutely essential. I can't believe that this doesn't get fixed.

It's sometimes difficult to fix things that only affect some users and are intermittent problems. I've been getting push notifications when it's my turn just fine for years.

I was getting a Dot notification on my Android device whenever it was my turn. That stopped happening in the past month. I tried to enable but now I get the error mentioned in this thread. I have checked all the notification options in bga and my Chrome browser.
HOW do Android users fix this problem? Please help.
