Meeple colours

If two players have the same favourite meeple colour, is it possible for both players to have to compromise on a different colour?

I find when I am playing against someone who is playing my usual colour - this is in Ticket to Ride - I am disadvantaged.

(I recognise that the term meeple is copyright or some such these days )

Yes, I don't fully understand the algorithm, but I've played in multiplayer games where neither blue-lover got their first choice.

I think it would be a bit petty for the rule to be something like "Well, if *I* can't be blue, NO ONE should be blue!" First come first served, then others get the preferences in order. I DO think the broader color preferences should be extended to all games as much as possible, barring where player colors could clash too much with non-player piece game bits.

The worst is the games that swap your colors every time you rematch. You are red and your opponent is blue in the first game, and the next game they make your opponent red and you blue. I really hate those games.

I would choose a less commonly desired color if I was having your trouble. I don’t know how to fix my trouble.

I know nothing about coding, so please correct me if I'm totally off base here, but would it not be possible without much trouble to make it so, that everyone always sees their preferred color. It is not like we are filming an actual board game.
Then I could see myself on my screen as blue and my opponent as red and my opponent could see themself on their screen as blue and my as red. I imagine that this would also help people with color blindness. If you could for example change the settings so, that you never see green and red meeples on the same board.
I understand this doesn't work in a handful of games where color is more than an aesthetic choice, but shouldn't it work for most games?

That has been suggested before, and apart from the coding complexity, it would be confusing for any discussion in chat, especially with 3+ players or spectators ("please block red", "I'm red", "no, I'm red").
