Mana Eruption (Bravos)

Post by RxGetGood »

I've had this card in a custom deck waiting for the rare chance it's useful. Finally had a situation where maybe sacrificing my orb was worth removing a card and all it did was have me select a mana orb and then automatically removed my character. I read the card as I get to select what to remove. Is this a bug in the card? The only thing I see it being use for currently is trying to get a card from your mana pool back into the discard pile for use if there was a mechanic to retrieve a card from the discard for use.

I keep finding cards that I read one way but the system here appears to completely alter the function. I'm just curious if there are a lot of bugs given some card mechanics don't mesh well with BGA programming or I'm just dumb as reading some functions that seem obvious.

Attempted to use this card again and I believe the confusion for me is the card doesn’t specify “controlled” characters. It mentions targeted characters or permanents. I’m not sure if this is a BGA problem that it only works on controlled or the proper rules for the card. Other cards usually are specific about any vs controlled only.

In my original scenario described above I was first move for the day and wanted to discard a character in their reserve since it had a low cost high value reserve cost. Since I had a Booda token in play the BGA system allowed me to pick what mana token to move into discard then automatically removed my controlled Booda from play.

A character in reserve is NOT controlled and thus is not a valid target for this spell so effect has been applied to the only controlled character, your Booda.

A character in reserve may be targeted by Sabotage effect.

The card does not say “controlled” which was my confusion. I searched the official rules and when a card uses the word target it actually is implied as controlled cards though. Since some cards use the term controlled directly in their text and this doesn’t was where my confusion spawned.
