Adding a new player level

Post by Kelindros »

Hi, would it be possible to add a new player level? I found out that all 4 first level are 100 elo Steps and the last 2 are 200.

I don't know it it's the same for expert players but for my case being a "good" player at most games I often found myself playing with almost expert players. I mean I like to play against stronger player, help me improve... but playing against almost experts can lower the fun a bit.

If there was a Strong level 300-399 Elo and a Very Strong 400-499 would help to reduce this problem. Am i the only one having this issue?

ELO ranking allows to classify players in 7 distinct skills levels:

Beginner (0 point),
Apprentice (1-99 points),
Average (100-199),
Good (200-299),
Strong (300-499),
Expert (500-699),
Master (700+).

There are bug suggestions for this.
As a workaround, you can look at the table to see the exact player ELOs.

Do there even need to be named rating groups for this? For superficial looks I guess it's nice, but for things like table restrictions it would likely be better to just have numerical gaps (+/- x: 100, 150, 200, etc.)
