Just if it helps for the BGA team, I have seem a solution for these in other Catan servers, since seems that the players demand it, they found it more fun. And that is the final reason of playing:

There are 3 options for dice:

+ True randomness, which implies this frustrating thing like rolling more 3s than 8s in a given game, for example, and which make people mad. But which is the fair dice mode, and the one to be used in Arena, for example.
+ Forced equally distributed randomness: which implies that at the end of the game, the dice distribution will get closer to the well known bell shape, where the 2s and 12s are 1/36 each, the 3s and 11s 2/36 each, the 4s and 10s 3/36 each, and so on until the 7s are 6/36. So the games are designed to reproduce the ideal distribution during the game, and rewarding more directly the fact that a 6 is better position than a 4.
+ And the option for dummies, which implies rolling 1 dice of 12, instead rolling 2 dice of 6. So every tile has the same value.

Maybe this will satisfy every one. Accepting that the second option, is the not random one, but humanly (so each human would choose differently how to approach this) forced to be more equally distributed in a given game.

Those are different games. Design them, deal with the intellectual property lawyer, and then publish them on BGA.

J just finish a game where the dice was quite only 10 or 8... always... its impossible play in this way

Let's see:
Numbers of 2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/10/11/12:
2/3/1/0/4/9/7/6/8/2/2

I even checked your second to last game since this isn't weird at all, but no that's the right game.

So we got seven 8 and eight 10 in 44 rolls.

seven 8 in 44 rolls has a probability of 41.2% (note that five 8 or less is 41.5% too).
eight 10 in 44 rolls has a probability of 2.7%.

But now, since you can do that claim for any number or for too much or too many of that number, we can multiply that probability per 22. (1-(1-0.027)^22).

Which leave a total probability of 45.7%.
And so in half of your games (46%), you should have a number rolled too much or too few as weird as your number of 10 here.

I didn't read the comments, but I believe that the dice is not fair! I played with people and the dice rolled 5, 9, 11 even more than 6 and 8 together!

I agree that this is the most unfair die I've come across and I've played Catan across at least 3 other platforms!

i just wish someone would share the actual statistics of dice rolls over all catan games on bga. then we could have much more confidence that it’s random.

another option would be to let us see the actually implemented code, i guess (not just tell me it’s random_int() but let me see how and where random_int() is called). but i would prefer the statistics. wouldn’t it be funny if they actually revealed a pattern!
