Just if it helps for the BGA team, I have seem a solution for these in other Catan servers, since seems that the players demand it, they found it more fun. And that is the final reason of playing:
There are 3 options for dice:
+ True randomness, which implies this frustrating thing like rolling more 3s than 8s in a given game, for example, and which make people mad. But which is the fair dice mode, and the one to be used in Arena, for example.
+ Forced equally distributed randomness: which implies that at the end of the game, the dice distribution will get closer to the well known bell shape, where the 2s and 12s are 1/36 each, the 3s and 11s 2/36 each, the 4s and 10s 3/36 each, and so on until the 7s are 6/36. So the games are designed to reproduce the ideal distribution during the game, and rewarding more directly the fact that a 6 is better position than a 4.
+ And the option for dummies, which implies rolling 1 dice of 12, instead rolling 2 dice of 6. So every tile has the same value.
Maybe this will satisfy every one. Accepting that the second option, is the not random one, but humanly (so each human would choose differently how to approach this) forced to be more equally distributed in a given game.
Have a nice day!
