I hate this unfair expelling system

Post by archange78 »

3 times in 2 days, general electricity breakdown or other event not from my ly voluntee. !! ...

i hate this unfair expelling system

Instead of proposing first the expelling and the massive downsizing of reputation, , the system would be a lot better proposing first both :
- switch to turn by turn
- question about why the disconnection happens
- take in consideration the kind of games and the moment in the game (big difference if the game is a 5mn one like cubird or a 1 hour like ark nova).

the result, 52% now
UNFAIR and hard to get back ! (and auto Censorship not telling more)

Ok

What if the other players don't want a turn per turn game ?

Who to question why the discoonection happened ?
The one that is disconnected? How can he respond?
The ones still in play? How can they know?
Other? Who and how?

What is the difference between a disconnect between a short or a long game ? How should each case be treated ?

If your connection is not stable due to factors in your local environment, then I'd recommend that you instead play turn based games with many turns per day, perhaps playing multiple of these simultaneously.

Bear in mind that your opponents who sign up for a real time game may not be able to commit to continuing a game that goes beyond the end of the current session.

Or wait a week for your connection to be stable again, since it seem it's not recently.

If you know your connection is unstable it is on you to play in a mode that can accommodate that (so turn based or friendly).
Of course it is possible to lose connection - once, but if your down to 52% you must have started new games knowing full well that you have issues.

Can also set real time game speed - fast, normal, slow. One of the tables you timed out on was set to fast!

Maybe it's fair after all...

Seems like you got a lot of feedback about why the system is the way it is. You've some good suggestions.

It'll also help if you reply in chat to explain what's going wrong. People are more understanding when they know the situation.

Additionally, no one can just immediately kick you. You have to go over your allotted time multiple times, typically. The first time you go over and someone tries to kick you, you have 30 seconds or so to resolve the situation. You won't get kicked! The next time you have only 20 seconds. It keeps going that way, giving you even more time than you were allotted just to be nice.

The reason so many people are responding this way is because the system isn't just fair, it's fairly forgiving about occasionally going over time.

Stop entering games you don't think you can reliably finish in time. An occasional disconnect won't do much to your reputation, but repeatedly failing shows a pattern, and it's not fair to your opponents to keep timing out on them for something you know is a problem. Deal with your connection issues or pick a timeframe you can disconnect in without causing a problem for your opponent, such as turn-based, where you should have enough time to come back later and make your move.

how can I plan electricity breakdown ?
no way
snow in france this morning
unusual in november
and we are not canadians

anyway, i request that the system offer a turn to turn switch , not only and immediatly expelling

many Players even dont know they can switch to turn by turn when a player is late or disconnected

I wasn't your fault.
It wasn't your opponents' fault neither.

Just get over it, it's not like you will be sent to prison because you were disconnected from a few games.
Karma will be back too.
I guess a lot of people here got penalty because they misjudged time for a turn or IRL problem forced them to stop playing. It's annoying (I know because it happened to me too) but nothing more.

You resquest ?
OK, but not here.
I guess there is a place on the site when you can propose stuff like that to be upvoted or downvoted. That is where you should go.

But 'the system' doesn't expel anyone. Players did. And I'm pretty sure a majority that play a game in real time has no interest to play turn by turn.
My view on that is that it would be pretty pointless to implement something that won't be used in 95% of the game.
