Question about starting games?

Post by Tragic »

So I play a lot on a few other sites but I do like the implementation of some of the games here, like TTA for example.

One thing that bugs me is that I can not seam to work out how to open a table and then just get emailed when everyone joins?

On boiteajeux for example I can just start a game and go about my day and when everyone has joined the site lets me know and off we go.

On this site I seam to have to sit around for ages waiting for everyone to join.

Is there a way to do it the other way?

It depends on if you are starting a game real-time or turn-based.

In real-time games, everyone must be at the table to play. The site requires all players to be at the table, the table administrator launch the game, and all players agree to play with all other opponents.

In turn-based games, the launch sequence is slightly different. The administrator opens the table, players join (and agree to play), and when either A) the minimum requested players have joined and 24 hours have passed or B) the maximum number of players have joined, the site launches the game.

Awesome, I got it worked out now.

About reserving a place at the table...

If I start a game and reserve a place for a mate, will they get notified somehow I am trying to start a game with them, either in email or a notification when they log in or something?

When they log in, they will be a banner at the top of their screen stating "You are expected at table xxxxxx." It will be a link that takes them to the table so they can join.

There has been discussion that this system may have some issues -- some people have said that spaces reserved for specific players have been taken by others.

There is no email notification, though.
