Non-premium players starting premium games?

The "start a game" page is often unintuitive. I would like to set up a turn-based game, restricted to members of a group I'm in, for a premium game. Am I correct that I would need to be a premium member to do this? If so, can that be communicated more clearly?

You can queue for a non-premium game, but would be waiting for a premium player to start a table. If you want to play with specific members of a group, you probably can still queue for that, but if no one in the group is premium, your game will never start. If you want to play with specific players, you can't do this as a non-premium (as far as I'm aware).

In this case, is it possible for me to share the link with others to join asynchronously, or do I have to wait for them to be online at the same time?

I don't think so. You're not actually creating a table, you're queuing for a premium player's table which you'll be joined to when they create it. If there is a premium player in your group who can create the table, they can then share the invite link. But the non-premium players can't guarantee they'll end up on the same table (nor can you guarantee you'll end up on the table of a premium player in your group if they start one while you're queued, though both situations are possible if the game isn't especially popular).
