Point de règles

Post by mika27fr »

Google translate, for everyone else:
"Hello community,

Small question which is not specified in the rule.
On the map shown at time = 0, we must draw a single square of the land of our choice.
What is the point of drawing a monster square on our map?
In my opinion, if we take this square we draw it for one of the players, which would seem more logical to me.
Can you confirm this for me or give me the benefit of penalizing myself?

Thank you."

I think you are asking, "when you draw a single square of any type on your map, why would you draw a monster on your own map?"

The only circumstance I can think of would be if you have Greengold Plains (3 points for each village touching at least three different terrain types) and Shoreside Expanse (3 points for each farm not touching the edge or water, 3 points for each water not touching edge or farm). You could have a village that's touching forest and farm, but if the space you want to put a water on is next to farm it would take away the 3 points for the farm. In that case you'd actually want to put a monster there instead.
This is a highly specific circumstance and it's unlikely you couldn't find something better to do. In 600+ games I haven't run into that situation.

I hope I answered the question that you were asking.

Hello,

Thank you for your response.
Indeed, this is consistent.
For more interaction, my hypothesis would have been interesting.

Thanks again.

Yes, that's a very interesting idea. It would be fascinating to see how that would play. I think most of the time you would draw a monster on the opponent's map instead of drawing something on your own. So it could mean a race to cover your ruins first.
