Edit : I also agree with daedin :)

Some players have contacted me to explain that they did not pay attention to the fact that only one registration was allowed. They joined several tournaments without paying attention to the rules.
Days of Wonder is offering them a chance to stay eligible to the semifinals. Players who joined several tournaments but do want to stay eligible must immediately quit all tournaments but one, before completing any match.
This is not fair, as you can choose what path in the tournament is the easiest.

It was wirtten very clearly. I also ask many times, you shoudn't now change the rules.

Sorry, it’s too late. All 20th Anniversary Tournaments have been launched the 1st of december.

@kspttw : I understand your point of view, but there ́s no need to worry. Since the announcement was made, I received .... 0 request to regain one's eligibility.
I think people who registered more than once did not take the time to read the rules .. they do not take the time to read the forum neither. 😀

And my last opponent joined multiple just because he joins TtR tournaments. He had no idea this was part of a larger tournment.

@Rwain - I see there are 9 rounds in the qualifying rounds for those that are filled up. Now the Q is, if a player makes it to at least Round 7 (where there would be only 8 surviving players by that point...), then presuming if that player is still eligible, this player will still make it to semifinals at that point no matter if this player survives Round 7, 8 or 9, correct?

100% correct.
Rounds 7, 8 and 9 are only there to determine the winner of the qualifying tournament, who will be rewarded with Ticket to Ride prizes.

Just realised now that I shouldn't have joined multiple tournaments. First rounds are completed and 2nd round has started. Do I still have the option of quiting tournaments to still be eligible?

I haven't lost a match yet, so I don't have any advantage of playing on even though I've lost in another tournament.

I'm not surprised. Lots of players just go to the tournaments page and join tournaments they find interesting without paying attention to the specific rules that might exist. We did a lot to avoid this situation : banner, messages to the TtR community, explanations on this forum, messages directly in the front page of the qualifying tournaments... but we can’t force people to read what we write :D

@macegreen86 : I'm sorry but the rules won’t change now, the tournament has started 9 days ago ! We offered a last chance to regain one's eligibity last week, we cannot offer another last last chance... it would not be fair for players who took the time to read the rules and acted so as to respect them.

Unfortunately I haven't seen any banners about it. I'm not active in BGA forums (somebody put me on to it on the 2nd round). I was unaware that there would be any information that I would have to read in any tournament comment box. I understand now that BGA doesn't have anywhere on the tournament information page to ad any important rules for the tournament, probably an oversight there by BGA and a great improvement if they did ad somewhere to put important tournament information.

Can you explain in what way it would be unfair? If it's just want you want, then fair enough. But I am yet to figure out any way it disadvantages anyone else. I have not lost a match up in the first 2 rounds, so it's not as though I'm progressing even though I have been beaten. All the tournaments I entered are at the same stage (all my 2nd round matches are finished), so there is no advantage in selecting any of them to progress in while quitting the others.

If I knew there was important rules to read down the comments box I certainly would have 'taken the time to read them'. I meant no disrespect to those people who do know to read the tournament comments.
