is there a way to leave myself notes about a game?

Post by JoysJoy »

There are a few games on BGA that are absolutely broken and useless to even try. You get frozen at some point, and everybody has to abandon. Bugs that have been known for years and just not fixed. Probably no developer around to do it.

Most recently it is a dice forge game for me. Completely forgot why I wasn’t playing this game anymore because I really do enjoy it. But it is because sooner or later the game just breaks down and you have to just quit. And I have played close to 200 games on here so I can’t remember them all right away.

Can I leave myself notes about other players so I remember what happened when I played with them. Is there anywhere I can leave a note for myself about games so I remember why I don’t like one, or I love one?

I can’t remember seeing anything like this. But I don’t want to go back to dice Forge again for example.

Not that I know. The closest you can do is create a list with "broken" games. But while you can see which games belong to a list (all lists are personal and cannot be viewed by other users), you can't see which lists a game belongs to.

You can in a cumbersome way. On every game's single-page lobby, clicking the + sign to the right of "Add to Favorites" will open an option to "Add to a a list," and clicking "Add to a list" will show a checkmark next to the lists it's already on.

Well I tried that. I was able to click and create a new list called games to never play but when I went back to the lobby, it doesn’t tell me I even have it on a list at all. I know it’s impossible to ask BGA to do anything to make it easier. There’s no hope

When you say "the lobby," there are at least three different lobbies you could be referring to: 1) the single-game lobby; 2) the Play Now lobby; 3) the Games lobby. Custom lists are shown in the Games lobby. You may have to refresh that page before you see it.

I created a list called "Games Not to Play" and it now shows up as a tab on the Games lobby:

I have nothing against these games. It's just a demo.

Here is the view from the Yahtzee single-game lobby showing that Yahtzee is in that list:

See what you're saying now. I was hoping for something that would give me a reminder. When a friend asked me to play a game and I looked at that game there would be a spot that says right there: thumbs down for the game or whatever note. But I suppose I could make myself go to the extra step of going to that other page to look if it is on my list. I'll see if I can remember that and not just click yes because my friend asked me and then end up in a bad situation again
