better statistics

Post by MasterMystery »

Hey,
BGA with ints structure has the amazing possibility to store all the info about games and give the info (like look at ark nova)

Currently it only shows, time taken, bonus number and average starting position:
@implementer: could you maybe give more there? the first should be really easy to track
-number of turns
-number of move/trade/produce/bolster actions (1 line each)
- number of upgrade/deploy/build/recruit (1 line each)
-number of workers
- amount of produced ress
- amount of spent ress
-which stars with 1/0 or 2+/1/0 in case of objective/combat
-number of battles
-number of won battles
-coins ingame
-coins through territory
-coins through stars
-coins through ress

Your concerns would be better addressed in the bug reporting system. Statistics are not a bug issue, but there is a category for suggestions.

Also note that Scythe is not fully released on BGA yet. I do not typically expect statistics to be available for a game until it is fully released.

Statistics are just like anything else, it would be best to test them before the game is released.

I can understand that someone might have statistics as a lower priority than, say, making sure all the encounters work properly. Statistics are not a proper part of gameplay (i.e., they are nowhere to be found in a rulebook), so it makes sense to me to not prioritize them. I would find it strange for someone to complain that a game was fully released without statistics implemented in a way that I would not if it were fully released without core gameplay elements fully implemented.

I am not the dev, though, so it's not up to me. If we get statistics before a full release, great! If not, I am content to be patient.

P.S. Glad to see your suggestion in the bug reporting system!

yeah its not a core mechanic, but i guess its not hard to implement and of lower priority but fiddling with it later may be worse.

At least the count it stuff. Just a big database like BGA has the potential to really analyze how often each action is taken, faction disparity etc.

Would be cool to see and also what better players make better. Just like terraforming mars is sad how little statistics there is vs ark nova, GWT, ...

but in that system you need a specific table number to be able to submit it to scythe?

Yes. Nothing prevents you from using any table number, as long as it's a Scythe table.
