hypnosis bug?

in my last game i was ahed (24 appeal vs 15) and i played a snake (the european's one) and the hypnosis worked on myself! i hypnotized myself! how is it even possible? is it beacuse i had quarantine laboratory? but how this interaction works or it's only just a bug?

P.S. to not take advantage of this situation i just got an x token but sure its strange... i would say unfair
