Instead of sequentially asking Yes or no, players all were asked at once. All players have to answer before the commander can choose. By allowing all players to answer at once would greatly speed up the game instead of asking one player at a time.

Re: The Crew could be sped up if
While I understand where this suggestion is coming from, I don't think it would really work. Certainly in 3-player, which is how I most often play, there is a *huge* difference in what I might answer in the 3 different situations of being asked first, being asked second after a "yes", and being asked second after a "no". And I don't think this would lessen much, if at all, with 4 or 5 players. Your variant would lose all that.

Re: The Crew could be sped up if
I'm in a 4 player game with friends from around the world. We've been playing this one game for 2 years. We are on 33. Waiting forever for one person in an odd time zone, just to get started, over a tactic of very small value, is a small price to pay to speed the game up significantlly. It needs to be an option.
Re: The Crew could be sped up if
How significant would the speed up actually be? It's only some missions that would benefit, all other missions and all the tricks in the game would still be as slow as always. Perhaps there could be a pre-select for answering questions too.

Definitely agree that the answer you give can depend a lot on previous answers. But as long as the answers aren't revealed before the previous players', it's no different than preselect for playing a card.

You're contradicting yourself. If the answer you give "can depend a lot on previous answers" - which I 100% agree with, this is precisely my contention - then it is by definition very different from "preselecting" an answer without knowing any previous answers.Tuut Tuut tis Luut wrote: ↑28 December 2024, 13:37 Definitely agree that the answer you give can depend a lot on previous answers. I guess there's no great harm in giving people the option if they really want this, but I'd never accept it as it significantly changes the game for those missions where this comes up.
(Mind you, I can't imagine playing The Crew turn-based anyway - and this from someone who for almost all other games vastly prefers turn-based play.)

May be faster but i dont like it. If u get 3 yes who do u give it to? U can be more strategic going in order.

Re: The Crew could be sped up if
The only strategy is to work together. That means answering honestly. Either yes or now. It does not matter what the others say. You must give the commander the correct information to make an informed decision.
Re: The Crew could be sped up if
This is false though. Let's first said that commander can't choose themselves.Pentallion wrote: ↑07 January 2025, 09:12The only strategy is to work together. That means answering honestly. Let's said your hand is slightly bad for the task, which mean you could do the task, but you prefer not. With your way you said no.
Now, you know that the two others players said 'no' to that task. Do you prefer still saying 'no', and let a person with a random bad hand do it? Or do you said 'yes' since your hand look better than the two others players?
If commander can choose themselves, you can apply the same reasonning. You know that if commander's hand is strong, they will choose themselves. But commander know too that you talked third, after two 'no'. Which should give few value to that 'yes'. So by saying yes, you make them choose between you two. And if commander's hand is weak, then instead of choosing another player randomly, they will choose you.
edit: here is a second example, much stronger. Let's said your hand is average, but you barely would said yes. So with your way you said yes. Now one or two players before you said yes.
Are you still saying yes with an average hand? You really shouldn't.
Re: The Crew could be sped up if
Respectfully, you are missing a lot of strategy. If you have a VERY strong hand, it's likely a teammate has a VERY weak hand. It's important that you say "no" to the tasks they think they can win.Pentallion wrote: ↑07 January 2025, 09:12 The only strategy is to work together. That means answering honestly. The order matters:
The later "yes" trumps the earlier "yes". It means, I know they said yes, but I think I need it more.
The later "no" trumps the earlier "no". It means I know the others don't want it, but I absolutely can't take it.
I understand how the suggested variant could help your turn based games though. Good luck.
