That’s correct, not for the time being. The editorial team tested shuffling both expansions into the base game and yes, it works.

But as you will have to discard a bigger number of cards from the deck during set up, chances are high, players would miss out on certain colours to gain bonuses or bonus actions. So to give you all a chance to explore each deck properly and get familiar with the new species, we keep them separated for now.

Depending on your feedback and requests, we might add a „choose both expansions“ option in a few weeks. Until then, enjoy playing!

My feedback is this: I got used to the Alpine expansion which made the game much more balanced and overall a better game. I don't want to play without it. So the inability to use both expansions at the same time is the reason my friends and I have not tried Woodland Edge. As long as they can't be combined, we probably will not try the newer expansion at all. In other words, I think preventing this combination is doing the opposite of what you intended.

You also won't know how it compares to playing with both expansions together, once you try that option in a couple of weeks, so now would be your perfect opportunity to find out what it's like.

I won't know, and that's fine. I already know I love the game with the alpine expansion and don't want to play without it.

What I'm saying is that if they decided to make the two options mutually exclusive in order to get us to try woodland edge and learn it, that's having the opposite effect with some people, so they should know that this decision is not necessarily having the effect they had in mind.

I think it's time to play with both expansions. I've been playing it the same way since the second expansion came out. There are a lot more ways to generate points.

in real life now i use always both expansion, sometimes if all the player agree, put away from ther deck less cards instead of what the rules say.

Please, give us the possibility to use both expansions!

I'm in the exact same boat. I've quite a few games, but have yet to try the new expansion for this reason. Base game is fun, but with the Alpine expansion it really makes Forest Shuffle fantastic. I have a hard time imagining playing without it now. Maybe the new expansion is better than Alpine, but it's a high opportunity cost to find out, given that I know I can play Alpine and have a great time! If we could mix them I'd certainly give it a try.

It's been few months now. Can you let us choose if we want to play with both or not?

Playing the second expansion without the first is a step backwards. The game is again unbalanced and again the luckier player usually wins.
