Definition of lake

While the example in the rules shows a lake of just one hexagon, apparently, a lake can be comprised of two (or possibly more) adjacent hexagons surrounded by other tiles.

At BGG, the game designer confirms that in a reply to a question about whether lakes could be used to surround temples (they can't).
