U.E.S. Armstrong 6927-D

Post by jaimiena »

Ok question, how do we get it so that there's a choice to remove more cards from the game? I HATE the 12 "You Win" Card, I like to think that most people hate this card. Is there anyway that we can make this like the Gordon card and have the choice to not play with it? Or am I the only one that feels this way?

I had to check my original post to see if I had said anything about auto-win... I never said it was, but then again neither is the Gordon card so why are we able to take that card out? All I'm saying is that I play this game a lot and I know that most people do not like that card, the option to take it out would be a game changer, literally.

The gurus are the ones who can change this. A guru could suggest that it be excluded and it would be voted on. The gordon card could be maddening when you are playing and losing 3-4 points every turn, and there are some games where it would be every turn. The you win card is hard to pull off most times. It sits there in a lot of games unless you have the exchange card, the 6 add a charge, or the 8 more a charge. I have lost and seen many people lose with the you win card and 2 charges on it.

The gurus cannot decide to exclude arbitrary cards. The gurus can only choose among the available options for regular games. To add an option (for all games, including possibly for Arena, if the gurus choose it), you'd need (a) The publisher/designer to agree with it (no house rules on BGA), and (b) A developer to implement it.

The 'you win' card is an interesting card, I think. Surely not an OP one, which would have too much of a chance for success. You really have to build for it, and even then when your opponents recognize the danger and act accordingly, you'd have a hard time pulling the win off with it.

If players “don’t like” the card then don’t draft or acquire it.

If players “don’t like” playing against an opponent who uses this strategy that’s something else.

As others say, it’s a strategy that requires clean execution. Sure, their win might creep up on you, if you’re not closely watching other players’ boards.

Im against the removal of the Gordon card as well. Both cards, if they even show up, simply require a shift in strategy, the "you win" card being the lesser of the two.

Why do you assume everyone hates it? Are you losing to it over and over again?

It is a viable way to win. More often than not, there are multiple players with multiple opportunities to stop this strategy from being implemented effectively. If you are tired of losing to this card, then step up and be the one to either buy it, or purchase the 6 or 8 place a charge card. Generally, the only way I win with that card is when all the other players refuse to pivot from their own strategies and basically allow me to get both the 12 you win and either the 6 or 8 place a charge cards. Your frustration is a reflection that you don't want to consider the other strategies happening at the same time and act accordingly. The constant pivoting and course changes are why many of us like this game so much.

I like that you guys assume that I lose to this card over and over again, I hardly ever lose to this card, I win with this card a lot. But it's a cheap, unsatisfying win. Also, I assume that most people hate this card because every time I'm in a game where it's used everyone talks about how much they don't like it.
