Master chocolatier variant

Post by Florrible »

Hi, this is probably a very silly question - I watched and then played a game with this variant for the first time today. When you click the explanation of the special factories in-game, it is specified that a factory with a certain design will act in to replace your foundry line on one move if needed.
I saw one of my opponents do this but I’m not sure if there is something I should click for it to kick in? While it is possible to download the rule book I don’t believe that this covers the BGA adaptation. Mostly I’m trying to understand if I failed to do something in this game so that I can continue to play and ensure I am not wasting any opportunities to protect my score. Apologies, this is probably really obvious but not a bug. For clarity I was playing from an iPad today. It might have been more obvious what I needed to do if I was playing on a laptop from a browser probably.

Hello!
I guess what you are talking about is what happened at the table #610544325 in move 22. There was a factory with a '0' in the center and some tiles on it. The green player grabbed two white tiles from this factory, one remaining tile was moved to the middle (like with a standard factory) and the factory instantly moved next to green player's board. The first tile that this player later would place on their floor was instead moved to that factory and was worth 0 points instead of -1.

I've only ever read the rulebook for this variant in the physical copy in Polish, so perhaps the rulebook that you've read is somewhat different in the way it's phrased and that's the source of some misunderstanding, but for me it's perfectly what should have happened. The first player who takes any tile from the factory with '0', moves the rest of the tiles to the middle like usual, and then puts the factory next to their board. They can use it then like a normal space on the floor for one tile (note it's just one tile, not the whole move - if you were to put 3 tiles on the floor, you can put one on this factory and two remaining on the floor like normal, so you'd get 0-1-1 = -2 points for this instead of standard -1-1-2 = -4). On the BGA adaptation it happens just this way and you don't have to click anything for this to happen - when you take tiles from this kind of the factory, it automatically goes next to your board and when you put the tiles on the floor, the first one automatically goes to this factory.

In this specific game, the factory with '0' started the game with 3 tiles on it instead of 4. It was because the next factory on the left was also a special one, with the blue tile on the design. It meant that one blue tile from each neighbouring factory should be moved to this factory at the beginning of the game if there are any, and the factory with '0' happened to have one blue tile that was moved away, so it started with 3 tiles and it could have looked like someone else have taken a tile from it and nothing happened, likely causing some confusion. In fact it just started this way and then followed the rules.

Do I make any sense here? I'm trying my best, but I'm a bit out of practice in explaining things in English
