Paikō (Catalyst Game Labs edition) in alpha

Post by xiongmao1298 »

Paikō is an abstract strategy game for 2 players, where the goal is to advance your tiles towards opponent's homeground to score the 10 points required for victory. A uniquely shaped board is divided into 4 sections, two of which are players' homegrounds where new tiles are first deployed and enjoy extra protection from opponent's attacks. The rest of the board is middleground, where players' strengths are equal.

Tiles project onto the board either threat, allowing to capture opponent's tiles, or cover, protecting from opponent's threat. Threat also allows both deploying new tiles further away from homeground and preventing opponent from doing so to hinder their advances.

The required 10 points are earned by ensuring advanced position of the tiles, with a tile in middleground being worth 1 point, and a tile in opponent's homeground being worth whole 2 points.
