Re: time limit to configure a table

Not that I'm much of a user anymore since I'm not playing anything, but I posted about this almost a year ago when I first came. To this day I can't figure out why it's limited to 30 seconds. And by the way, OP is not asking why there's a delay of 30 seconds - he's asking why it's so short, i.e. he feels rushed. And so did I. And while it populates the thing with any of your prior invitations as you had them set, this only works for people who always use the same settings and don't really have to look at it. But for people who don't do invitations much, 30 seconds is not very long, and quite personally I don't like the invite going live when I'm still setting stuff, even if I can change certain things. I don't want anyone jumping on the game before I'm ready.

I don't get why this exists at all. Why not let people have as much time as they need? Especially new people who don't really know what's involved? What's so hard about hitting a "start now" button once you're done?

Seconded about new users: a newcomer needs time to figure out the options and the timer implies there isn't. I ended up cancelling and restarting the table creation multiple times before I got there. Several minutes of timer or simply a button to "open the table to players" would have helped.

Another new user here. This 30 second timer just baffles me. It makes no sense. As a user I barely have time to read the screen and internalize the data there, not to mention actually make choices. Maybe if you have created a hundred games the 30 seconds if enough. If you really have to have a timer make it reasonable for the new user, something like 2 or 3 minutes.

As a software developer that has done a lot of user interface work, making a timed interface if just plain silly. The new user experience is critical for retaining users. Driving them off by making it hard or stressful to try your site does not make any sense.

Quick post to conclude this thread since it's now obsolete: no timer any more, you open the table to other players when you are ready (which brings up another trouble since some table creators forget to click "open the table to other players" to effectively open the table, but that's another story...)
