"Connection Reset" and "Took Too Long to Respond" Errors on Forum

Yeah, I've seen that white overlay thing a couple of times today. Thought it was just me.

It is very true that the problem is the forum and that it doesn't load right. Something is really really wrong and it's not getting fixed.

Why would it be so different? Just loading that fake wood background screen freezes it most days. At least eight times to get this one page loaded. Is the forum on a different server?

Probably, or a different process at least.

When you load https://boardgamearena.com/forum, what you get is the top bar and footer, the rest is an "iframe" (an embedded webpage) from https://forum.boardgamearena.com, which has the actual forum content.

The iframe is definitely the issue. The top bar and footer load fine.

Things were a bit better the past day or so, but today ( right now) thinkgs seem particularly bad.

As before the site 'wrapper' loads ok but the forum pages themselves are very slow to display and navigate

Could be an issue with the third party bulletin board software phpBB, or in the way it’s configured by BGA or possibly customised by them. Or might be a sizing issue.

I get loading delays on iOS using Safari on both iPhone and iPad as well as Firefox on PC.

I've been getting these errors intermittently. It manifests when I try to view one of the forum pages (or even when submitting this post), and after partially loading the faux wood background and some headings a large white overlay appears with one of the two messages in this post's title.

It has been happening since last night (2025-01-13 ~23:00 UTC-8). It occurs on two different devices (laptop and mobile) and on different networks (home WiFi vs mobile data).

Anyone else?

I wondered that too. Around 16 hours later it seems to be improved though.
